Do I need a permit for landscaping?

In most cases, you won't need a landscaping permit in either Pinal or Maricopa counties. But, if your landscape installation requires one, we'll help you work through rules and regulations of your HOA, city, or county as appropriate.

Are there incentives for switching from natural grass to artificial turf?

Natural grass is difficult and expensive to maintain in the East Valley desert. Check your city's website or call them about available incentives. For instance, Mesa offers a Grass-to-Xeriscape rebate for up to $1,100! Scottsdale offers an annual grass removal rebate as well. Save time, money and water over a 15 to 20-year life expectancy of artificial grass.

What are the rules for outdoor fires?

A recreational fire in your backyard for warmth or cooking (i.e. fire pit, fireplace, BBQ island, outdoor kitchen, chiminea) does not require a permit. But, it is still subject to No Burn Days. Check specific rules for Maricopa County burning activities or Pinal County fire restrictions. Get the Clean Air Mobile App to get notifications about No Burn Days.
